Andre Gurode will play kickball

Before we started a week-long vacation we talked with Cowboys Pro Bowl center Andre Gurode about a charity event he's having this weekend.

Andre Gurode's first annual Celebrity Weekend event started tonight with a private event but continues on Saturday with a kickball game.

The event is designed to raise money for The Center of Attention Foundation, Inc. which provides financial support to Dallas-based The Promise House, which gives shelter to homeless and underserved children aged 10-17.

Several Cowboys' players, from Felix Jones, Jason Witten and Bradie James, have charity events.

Add Gurode to the list.

"It's always been important to me to reach out," Gurode said. "You never know which child you can change by helping them. My entire family is involved in this, I'm pretty excited about it."

Tonight's events had the Casino Royale Gale, held at a private location.

Then there's the Celebrity Kickball Game at Sportsplex at Valley View in Dallas.

There is a VIP meet and greet at 4 p.m. following by the first pitch, if you will at 5:30 p.m. Several Cowboys players will be on hand to particpate in the kickball game.

Saturday night at Aloft hotel in downtown Dallas there is a wrap up party starting at 10 p.m.

Sunday morning at Le Meridien Hotel Gurode and some of his teammates will host a celebrity brunch starting at 11 am.
