IRVING, Texas – Jerry Jones has definitely done his part to hype up Dez Bryant.
Heck, the first thing Jerry did after trading up to draft Bryant was assign him No. 88, made famous by a couple of legendary Cowboys receivers.
Jerry is still excited about his first-round pick after watching Bryant battle a few injuries and produce a bunch of highlights during minicamps and OTAs. But he isn't offering any bold predictions for Bryant's rookie year.
"Because of the fact he is a rookie, I don’t want to get too much in that direction," Jerry said. "I think he’s going to get to touch the ball some, probably inordinately so as a rookie.
"That’s not a guess, but an expectation."
In other words, it's an order for Jason Garrett: Get Bryant involved in the offense. Jerry's biting his tongue a little, but he clearly is counting on a big immediate impact from Bryant.
