IRVING -- The second practice of the 2010 regular season had coach Wade Phillips talking about the mistakes his team made.
Phillips was irked at the number of mistakes on Wednesday, but he attributed things to the game plan being implemented. The mistakes were a combination of mental and physical issues.
"Once you put in the game plan, and we did some of it Monday, and we had been working on some plays, and those plays we did well," Phillips said. "But some of the game plan that we put in [offense and defense], special teams, whatever, we didn't execute well."
After Monday's practice, Phillips said he was pleased with how the team looked. The players acted ready to start the regular season and put an end to their preseason struggles.
Wednesday was a different story. Maybe the 45 minute bus ride from here to Fort Worth might have something to do with it and the heat inside the TCU practice facility could have led to a lapse in concentration. Practice squad wide receiver Jesse Holley tweeted he lost seven pounds.
"But you're going to make mistakes," Phillips said. "You don't want too many but today was a mistake day basically. Tomorrow shouldn't be as many. Friday you should be sharp."
