Cowboys on verge of releasing Deon Anderson

IRVING -- The Cowboys are working on an injury settlement with fullback Deon Anderson.

Anderson, a sixth-round pick in 2007, has battled injuries almost his entire career with the Cowboys.

He suffered a knee injury in the season opener at Washington and had to undergo surgery on Sept. 13. He was expected to miss two-to-four weeks.

When the Cowboys complete the Anderson settlement it will clear up a roster spot for possibly tight end Scott Chandler who is currently on the practice squad.

UPDATE: The Cowboys have released Anderson, who will be placed on a waived/injured list, and added Chandler to the active roster.
