IRVING, Texas -- Nothing has been made official yet, but it appears that the Cowboys' reality show winner has earned a spot on the 53-man roster.
Jesse Holley practiced with the first-team punt unit Wednesday afternoon, a strong indication that he's the top candidate to fill the roster spot opened by Michael Hamlin's release.
Holley spent last season on the practice squad after earning an invitation to training camp by winning Michael Irvin's reality show featuring NFL wannabes.
The Cowboys considered putting Holley on the 53-man roster after final cuts, but they released him and re-signed him to the practice squad after he clears waivers. Special teams coach Joe DeCamillis cited Holley's play as a positive several times during the preseason.
The special teams coverage units are a major concern for the Cowboys now, especially after Tennessee's 73-yard kickoff return to set up the winning touchdown Sunday. It looks like the Cowboys will turn to Holley for help.
