The Cowboys will not claim Randy Moss off of waivers.
That’s what Jerry Jones said during his Tuesday appearance on KRLD-FM, indicating that there is still at least a small dose of common sense at Valley Ranch.
Unlike the draft a dozen years ago, the Cowboys aren’t making a mistake by passing on Moss. It would have been crazy to add a highly paid, melodramatic wide receiver with a one-year contract to this sinking ship. With the Cowboys’ playoff hopes pretty much extinguished, there’s no potential benefit from adding Moss, even though he is still an elite talent.
At the minimum, Moss would have been a progress-stopper for sensational rookie Dez Bryant. The me-first Moss also could have a horrible influence on the Cowboys’ first-round pick, who still needs to make a lot of progress as a professional.
