Marion Barber, two ILBs miss practice

IRVING, Texas -- A long weekend wasn’t enough recovery time to prevent three Cowboys starters from missing Monday’s practice.

Running back Marion Barber, linebacker Bradie James and linebacker Keith Brooking were absent during the media access portion of practice.

Barber suffered a strained left calf late in Thursday’s loss to the Saints. Interim coach Jason Garrett said Barber was day-to-day.

James hasn’t practiced much since spraining the PCL in his knee several weeks ago. However, he has started every game.

The reason for Brooking’s absence isn’t clear at this point. It might just be a precautionary measure for the 35-year old, considering this was an extra practice for the Cowboys after the long weekend.

UPDATE: Brooking has a sprained left foot. He has a protective boot, but he says it's just a precaution. He expects to practice later this week and play Sunday.
