IRVING, Texas -- Since Chris Greisen joined the Cowboys on Tuesday, his days have been long.
The practice squad quarterback has arrived at Valley Ranch at 6:30 a.m. and not left until 7:30 or 8 p.m. as he attempts to learn as much as he can from quarterbacks coach Wade Wilson.
“You try as hard as you can, put in as much time in go over the plays, ask as many questions as you can,” Greisen said. “Everyone’s been great. They’ve helped me out so it’s just a matter of studying. Will I be able to have the full package? No. But some of the concepts I like I’m sure we’ll put in in case I need to go in.”
Greisen, who played for Florida in the UFL this season, said the biggest adjustment has had to do with forgetting the other playbooks and how it relates to the Cowboys’ calls. He said he has had some talks with former Cowboys quarterback Brooks Bollinger, who was his teammate with the Tuskers.
“It kind of got me in trouble a couple of times, so I’m going to have to cross those things off in my mind of what I’m used to and just figure it out,” Greisen said. “
The Cowboys would have to call Greisen up from the practice squad before they fly to Philadelphia in order for him to be active. With Jon Kitna unable to practice the last two days, Greisen will likely get the promotion.
