DALLAS -- For the second time in his career Jason Witten was named the tight end recipient for the NFL Alumni Player of the Year Award.
Witten and Felix Jones, who was given the NFL Alumni’s Spirit Award, were honored Friday night at Union Station. Witten caught 94 passes for 1,002 yards and a career-high nine touchdown passes. He was also named a first-team All-Pro and played in the Pro Bowl for the seventh straight year.
“It’s special because all of the guys that voted for that actually played the game and they were the best in the game,” Witten said. “For those guys to vote for you, watch you and see you, that’s what you play for -- to get the respect of those types of players.”
