Cowboys will talk to Prince Amukamara

INDIANAPOLIS -- Among the names most linked to the Cowboys and the No. 9 overall pick is Nebraska cornerback Prince Amukamara. The Cowboys will interview him at the NFL Scouting Combine but it has not happened as of yet.

“I think it would be a very good opportunity to play for the Cowboys,” Amukamara said. “I’m not foreign to that stadium. I played there twice. It’s a really nice stadium."

Amukamara, who played in back-to-back Big 12 title games at Cowboys Stadium, measured in at 6-feet, 206 pounds, and he will attempt to dispel the notion that he is not fast enough to be an elite cornerback.

“I think that comes from people not knowing what they’re talking about or really seeing me on film,” Amukamara said. “I’ll show it on Tuesday.”

Amukamara did not have an interception as a senior but earned a first-team All-Big 12 pick for the second straight year. He picked off five passes in his junior season. While the Cowboys have expressed pleasure in their starting cornerbacks Terence Newman and Mike Jenkins, they both struggled in 2010.

Amukamara said he does not plan on redshirting as a rookie.

“Whatever team I play on I look forward to competing for a starting spot,” Amukamara said.
