IRVING, Texas -- The Cowboys have picks No. 40 and 71 entering Friday’s second and third rounds of the NFL Draft, and owner and general manager Jerry Jones said the team does not have one focus as it enters the second day.
Jones mentioned defensive line, linebacker, cornerback and safety as positions of need. Running back could be another possibility depending on who is available.
Defensive tackles Christian Ballard of Iowa and Kenrick Ellis of Hampton were predraft visitors. Linebacker possibilities include: Illinois’ Martez Wilson and North Carolina’s Bruce Carter, however, there are injury questions with both of them. Texas’ Aaron Williams and Utah’s Brandon Burton are possibilities, as well.
