Trader Jerry has been quiet so far

IRVING, Texas --Remember when Jerry Jones was a wheeler and dealer on draft day?

So far the Cowboys have been remarkably tame through the first two days of the draft. Maybe it all changes today for Rounds 4-7.

This is the first time since 2003 that the Cowboys have taken their picks in the first, second and third rounds without making a trade. That year they took Terence Newman, Al Johnson and Jason Witten in what was the first draft with Bill Parcells as head coach.

In the first draft with Jason Garrett as coach, the Cowboys have followed suit. I remember Wade Phillips’ almost dizzy reaction to how Jones operated the draft room in 2007 when the Cowboys made three trades in the first two rounds.

The last time the Cowboys made their first three picks without a deal came in 2005 when they took DeMarcus Ware and Marcus Spears in the first round and Kevin Burnett in the second.
