IRVING, Texas -- Cowboys’ coaches are back to work a few days earlier than anticipated with the NFL lockout expected to end shortly, according to sources.
Coaches have been off for most of the summer, however, the early recall will give them a chance to catch up on some work and put together final practice pieces should training camp begin as soon as next week in San Antonio.
Jason Garrett has seven new assistant coaches on his staff, including defensive coordinator Rob Ryan. The others are: assistant head coach/wide receivers Jimmy Robinson, linebackers coach Matt Eberflus, defensive line coach Brian Baker, strength and conditioning coach Mike Woicik, defensive quality control coach Ben Bloom and assistant strength and conditioning coach Walt Williams.
The assistants had limited contact with players during the off-season because of the lockout. Around 20 players made their way to Valley Ranch when the lockout was temporarily lifted and were able to meet with coaches and work out.
