SAN ANTONIO -- With Doug Free back to practice by Thursday if not sooner once the new collective bargaining agreement s ratified by the players, Tyron Smith will move to right tackle, according to Hudson Houck.
Smith has played left tackle since camp opened, in part to get him a feel for the game but also because of numbers. Sam Young has started at right tackle. Head coach Jason Garrett said Smith and Free will work some in training camp at either tackle spot, but he would not say whether that could happen in preseason games.
“He’s good enough to play and we’ll see how much he can learn and put him in the fold as quick as we possibly can," Garrett said. "I know one thing there was a lot of research into this and this man is a worker. He knows how to work and he’s worked all his life. He’s a good practice player, so that’s all that we were concerned about.”
