SAN ANTONIO -- Assistant head coach Jimmy Robinson did not take part in Sunday’s walkthrough and could miss a little bit of time as he recovers from being knocked unconscious following a collision with wide receiver Teddy Williams on Saturday.
Robinson’s wife, Karen, flew to San Antonio on Saturday and players and coaches have checked in on him since he returned from the hospital. Offensive staff assistant Keith O’Quinn has worked with the wide receivers in Robinson’s absence.
“He’s very lucid and the same Jimmy Robinson that we know,” head coach Jason Garrett said, “but we need to take any precautions necessary when something like that happens.”
Said Miles Austin: “He seems to be doing all right. I spoke with him on the phone. Hopefully he’ll be back with us soon. We’re not going to rush him back, but he needs to take his time.”
Williams suffered a hamstring injury in an attempt to avoid Robinson along the sideline and could miss a good amount of time.
“He was trying to avoid and I was trying to avoid, and I was going full speed and he jumped into me,” Williams said. “It was just a freak accident. There was nothing intended, no hard feelings. I love my coach so much, I was really, really worried about him. It’s just a blessing that neither one of us got hurt really bad.”
