SAN ANTONIO -- In conjunction with the releases of quarterback Zack Eskridge and nose tackle Billy Blackard, the Cowboys claimed quarterback Tom Brandstater and wide receiver Dominique Edison on Saturday.
Brandstater was cut by Miami and Edison was cut by Seattle.
The Cowboys liked Brandstater coming out of Fresno State but drafted Stephen McGee in the fourth round. Brandstater was picked by Denver in the sixth round and spent time with Indianapolis and Miami. Edison was a sixth-round pick by Tennessee in 2009 out of Stephen F. Austin. He was active for five games in 2009 but did not record a catch. He spent part of last season on the Seahawks’ practice squad.
The Cowboys needed receiver help with injuries to Teddy Williams (hamstring), Titus Ryan (foot) and Manny Johnson (concussion).
