ARLINGTON, Texas -- A strained hamstring kept tight end Martellus Bennett from playing Thursday against Denver, but he said he hopes to practice Saturday when the Cowboys return to on-field work.
“It’s not serious,” Bennett said. “I didn’t tear my hamstring.”
Bennett suffered the injury in Tuesday’s practice and left the session early. John Phillips saw more action in Bennett's absence, catching four passes for 25 yards. Martin Rucker had two catches for 29 yards and also added the game-winning two-point conversion.
“It’s always disappointing not to play, but I thought the tight end group did great,” Bennett said, “Everybody did a great job. I’m proud of our group.”
