ARLINGTON, Texas -- Mike Jenkins is still looking to return to the practice on a full-time basis after suffering a stinger in the first week of training camp.
Jenkins has been in full uniform and gone through individual drills over the last 10 days but he has not taken part in any contact drills since the injury. He did not play in the preseason opener vs. Denver but coach Jason Garrett is hopeful Jenkins could play against San Diego.
“The thing you don’t want have and that is to come back too early, re-aggravate it and now you have it for two more weeks,” Garrett said. “Hopefully in the next couple of days he’ll be ready to go again and play here hopefully this week and if not this week then certainly next week vs. Minnesota.”
In Jenkins’ absence, Alan Ball has started and has impressed new defensive coordinator Rob Ryan. The extra work has also helped Ball get accustomed to cornerback after playing free safety last year.
