MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. -- Montrae Holland ended the preseason on a positive note by starting at right guard and playing the first half against Miami after missing the first three preseason games with a back injury.
“Man, what a big relief,” Holland said. “It feels great to get an opportunity to get back out there and get acclimated to playing again.”
Rookie Bill Nagy will start the season opener at the New York Jets at left guard, but Holland will be available in reserve. Holland missed most of training camp with a sore back after opening with the first-team line.
Holland “came in and played and played like Holland always plays when he gets in games and plays,” owner Jerry Jones said. “We have felt good about him. He really is an anchor guy first and foremost, but he can also move. Unless I’m really surprised by a detailed look at the tape [Saturday], then he had a good game out here.”
