EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The Cowboys lead the New York Jets after the season's first quarter, 7-0.
Dez Bryant can't be stopped: The Cowboys scored on their first possession, a Tony Romo 3-yard touchdown pass to Dez Bryant that ended a nine-play, 74-yard drive. Bryant couldn't be stopped by either Antonio Cromartie or Darrelle Revis. Bryant has three catches for 71 yards.
Injury update: Cornerback Mike Jenkins was hurt late in the first quarter on a tackle and missed the last three snaps. Jenkins' injury isn't known, but he just recovered from a stinger and suffered a knee injury Wednesday. Tackle Tyron Smith (knee) and Jenkins (knee) both played Sunday night after hyperextending their knees Wednesday. Both underwent MRIs which revealed no structural damage. There was a thought the two would be out two to four weeks, but further examinations proved they could return sooner.
Two lineup changes: The Cowboys made two lineup changes, and one was a surprise. Jason Hatcher got the start over Kenyon Coleman. This is Hatcher's second start in 76 career games. It was interesting that the team went with Hatcher because Coleman had beaten out Igor Olshansky for the starting spot. The Cowboys probably wanted more of a pass-rush presence on the field with Hatcher. Also, Sean Lee took over for Keith Brooking. The two are expected to split the snaps at inside linebacker this season.
Inactives: Cowboys: Stephen McGee, Phillip Tanner, Terence Newman, David Arkin, Martellus Bennett, Laurent Robinson and Clifton Geathers. Jets: Kevin O'Connell, Logan Payne, Andrew Sendejo, Bilal Powell, Caleb Schlauderaff, Robert Turner and Kenrick Ellis.
