David Buehler has groin strain

IRVING, Texas -- The Cowboys could be looking for Dan Bailey to handle all of the kicking chores Monday vs. Washington at Cowboys Stadium with David Buehler battling a groin strain.

Buehler was not on the injury report Thursday but he has not worn his kicking shoes to practice the last two days during the time the session was open to the media. Friday’s practice dealt mostly with punt returns, so he was not really needed.

Buehler has five touchbacks in the first two games in 10 kickoffs, good for 12th in the league.

Bailey had seven kickoffs in two preseason games at Cowboys Stadium with two touchbacks. Six of Bailey’s kickoffs made the end zone. One kick went to the 1 vs. San Diego and was returned 36 yards.

The Redskins use wide receiver Brandon Banks on kick returns and he is averaging 25.5 yards a return with a long of 31 yards in the first two games.
