Cowboys not looking for a veteran wideout

IRVING, Texas -- Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Wednesday on KRLD-FM that the team is not interested in signing a veteran wide receiver.

The Cowboys' two starters, Miles Austin (hamstring) and Dez Bryant (thigh), are nursing injuries that have forced them to miss games in the first month of the season.

Jones said Austin won't return until after the bye week, meaning the receiver will have missed games against Washington and Detroit. Bryant, who missed the Week 2 game with his injury, is still recovering from a thigh injury that Jones said, "was more than I certainly thought was going to be."

As it stands, the Cowboys' healthy receivers are Kevin Ogletree, Jesse Holley, Laurent Robinson and Dwayne Harris.

"You can count on these guys," Jones said. "They've been in this system. They've been around it to the extent if there's any confusion there, you can rely on them doing a better job. There are guys who can do it."
