Cowboys release WR/KR Dwayne Harris

The Cowboys on Tuesday released rookie wide reciever Dwayne Harris.

Harris, who was the team's sixth-round selection out of East Carolina, did not have a catch in the first five games and averaged 6.6 yards on 11 punt returns and had 73 yards on three kick returns (24.7 avg).

The move could put Dez Bryant and Terence Newman in the mix as a returner.

The Cowboys filled Harris' roster spot by adding guard Daniel Loper, who worked out at Valley Ranch before signing. Earlier in the day, the Cowboys signed Montrae Holland and placed Bill Nagy on IR with an ankle injury. They also worked out Mansfield Wrotto.

If Harris clears waivers, he's eligible to return to the Cowboys' practice squad.
