IRVING, Texas -- If Cowboys defensive end Jason Hatcher had his way his return from a month-long absence due to a calf injury would come against a more immobile quarterback than Philadelphia’s Michael Vick.
“I’m just happy to be back,” said Hatcher, who was limited in Wednesday’s practice. “I’ll deal with that when I get there. That’s Sunday. I’ll deal with practice now.”
Hatcher suffered the injury early in the Sept. 26 win against Washington. Marcus Spears played well as Hatcher’s replacement in the starting lineup.
Hatcher had nine tackles, two sacks a tackle for loss and two quarterback pressures in two-plus games before getting hurt. He has never had a calf injury before.
“It’s hard to judge,” Hatcher said. “I pushed it pretty good and it held up. Tomorrow I’ll push it a little more and the next time I’ll push it a little more to see where I’m at and just get ready for Sunday.”
