ARLINGTON, Texas -- Cowboys guard Derrick Dockery left the team after a few snaps Wednesday against Miami to attend the funeral of his brother-in-law.
The Frederick (Md.) Post reported Dockery's brother-in-law, Army Sgt. David V. Williams, was killed in Afghanistan on Aug. 18.
Coach Jason Garrett said Dockery left for the Washington, D.C. area Wednesday night so he can attend the funeral Thursday.
"We're able to manage it so he can come in and play," Garrett said. "He played a handful of plays early on in the ballgame and then we got him out. He was able to make that flight and he'll be with his family tomorrow."
