Practice report: Jay Ratliff, Phil Costa, Matt Johnson sit

IRVING, Texas -- With the threat of a thunderstorm brewing, the Cowboys conducted practice without nose tackle Jay Ratliff (ankle), center Phil Costa (back) and safety Matt Johnson (hamstring) on Thursday.

Those players weren't around during the open portion of practice to the media. However, outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware (hamstring) was on the field. He was limited in practice Wednesday with a hamstring issue, but it doesn't appear to be serious.

To prepare for the crowd noise at Seattle, the team lined up five speakers facing the practice fields. The speakers were covered in plastic to protect them from the rain.

An interesting note: Several Cowboys players from Dez Bryant, Miles Austin and now Ware, are getting in extra stretching prior to the team practice. Those three have endured some sort of leg injuries during training camp.

Cornerback Mike Jenkins (shoulder) received some snaps on special teams for the second consecutive day, and it appears more and more he'll be on that unit Sunday afternoon in Seattle.
