Jerry Jones says team might not sign punter

IRVING, Texas -- Before heading out to watch 15 players work out -- including three punters -- Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Friday afternoon that there was no guarantee the team would sign a punter.

Punter Chris Jones (knee) is nicked up and listed as questionable on the injury report that was released Friday afternoon. If Jones, who had limited participation in Friday's practice, can't punt in Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens, the team would have to sign someone.

But if Jones plays, the Cowboys could sign a player at a different position.

"I don't want to dismiss that until we see what we look (like) out here," Jones said. "But generally speaking, with (safety) Matt Johnson back and what we're doing with Danny McCray playing at the level he's playing, no we're not necessary looking there."

Punter Brian Moorman (groin) is out for the Ravens game.

The Cowboys are working out punters Daniel Sepulveda, T.J. Conley and Chas Henry today.

If the Cowboys sign any player, they must do it by 3 p.m. CT Saturday.
