IRVING, Texas – DeMarco Murray will not practice today as he continues his rehab from a sprained foot, according to a source.
Murray has missed the last four games because of the injury to his left foot, but the team has said he has made progress. Murray has said he would like to play this week against Cleveland but is leaving the decision up to the medical staff.
He was on the field last Thursday in a helmet and cleats but did not practice.
With two games in a five-day span, against Cleveland and Washington on Thanksgiving, giving Murray more time to heal might make sense.
“I don’t know that it’s complicated,” coach Jason Garrett said. “I think you have to assess it. When he’s healthy we’re going to give him a chance to play. And I guess the only thing you could say is we won’t have really full practices next week, so can you really evaluate him? But we’ll take his situation day by day.
Despite missing the last four games, Murray remains the Cowboys’ leading rusher with 330 yards on 75 carries. Felix Jones has 278 yards on 74 carries.
