Morris Claiborne eyes return against Saints

ARLINGTON, Texas – Morris Claiborne missed the first game of his young career Sunday against Pittsburgh because of a concussion but does not expect to miss next week’s game against New Orleans.

“I had some symptoms later in the week and they didn’t want to put me at risk like that,” Claiborne said. “The coaching staff, training staff all of them together and with me figured it would be a good game to sit out.”

Claiborne suffered a concussion Dec. 9 at Cincinnati when he was hit by teammate Danny McCray. He also needed 10 stitches to close a gash on his lip.

Without Claiborne, Mike Jenkins started at cornerback and Sterling Moore was the No. 3 cornerback.

Claiborne said he felt worse after this concussion for a longer time than the one that kept him out of a game last year at LSU. He worked out before Sunday’s game knowing he would not play.

“I felt good,” Claiborne said. “Just trying to stay at it and I know I’ll be back next week so I don’t want to get out of what I’ve been doing.”
