Jermey Parnell getting more playing time

IRVING, Texas -- The right tackle rotation between Jermey Parnell and Doug Free has lasted three games and most likely will continue Sunday night when the Cowboys visit the Washington Redskins.

In Sunday's overtime loss to the New Orleans Saints, Parnell played 22 of the 56 offensive snaps. It was the second-highest snap total of the season for Parnell and the highest percentage (39) of plays he was involved in this season.

Free, the starter, played 35 snaps his lowest output of the season. His snap count percentage has decreased since the rotation began three weeks ago at Cincinnati. Free played 81 percent of the snaps against the Bengals, but only 47 against Pittsburgh and 35 against the Saints.

"We went with the same rhythm of alternating series," coach Jason Garrett said of the rotation on Monday. "Doug ended up playing 35 plays or so and Jermey played about 22 or so. But each of those guys has responded well to it. I think Doug is playing more aggressively and more physically. Jermey, just the more he plays, the better he’s getting. So it’s been a good situation for both guys."
