Anthony Spencer (knee) out again

IRVING, Texas -- Defensive end Anthony Spencer isn’t participating in Thursday’s practice, putting his availability for Sunday night’s season opener in further doubt.

Spencer has yet to practice since having arthroscopic knee surgery on July 25. Defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin has said he hoped to have Spencer in a limited role, but even that seems unlikely at this point.

However, Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said the team still has not ruled out Spencer playing in the opener.

George Selvie, who signed with the Cowboys early in training camp, is expected to start at defensive end opposite DeMarcus Ware. The Cowboys traded for Edgar Jones and Caesar Rayford over the past week to add depth to their defensive end corps.

Running back Lance Dunbar (foot) and special teams ace Danny McCray (hamstring) also have not practiced this week and are not expected to be available for the season opener against the New York Giants.
