IRVING, Texas -- The Cowboys' 31-30 loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday was just another in a long line of strange and crazy defeats Dallas has suffered in recent years.

In fact, since 2005 we have come up with 21 losses that can be described as “only the Cowboys.” And that does not include the 2007 divisional playoff game loss at Texas Stadium to the New York Giants in which "Cabo" was added to the franchise vernacular.

Against the Lions, the Cowboys allowed 623 yards (329 to Calvin Johnson) but had four takeaways. Who loses a game with a plus-four turnover margin? The Cowboys. Who loses on a blocked punt for a touchdown in overtime? The Cowboys. Who loses when a field goal gets blocked and leads to the opponent’s winning field goal on an untimed play? The Cowboys. Who loses on a missed extra point? The Cowboys. Who loses when the coach calls a timeout before his own kicker attempts a game winner? The Cowboys.
