IRVING, Texas – The Dallas Cowboys will hold their pre-draft news conference today at 2 p.m. ET and we will find out very little specifics.
A couple of things we can guarantee: The Cowboys will consider moving up, moving down or staying at No. 16. Jerry Jones will say the most important information he has gathered has been from his scouts and that they are looking for good football players.
This is an important draft for the Cowboys as they look to get off the 8-8 merry-go-round after a free agency period that saw them make a big move to get Henry Melton, albeit with an asterisk, and lose Jason Hatcher, DeMarcus Ware and Miles Austin.
The Cowboys' needs are obvious: defensive end, defensive tackle, safety, linebacker, wide receiver and more defense.
Some questions I have:
How do the Cowboys marry a coaching staff that needs to add players to win now versus a scouting process that keeps the future in mind?
Will the Cowboys be inclined to stay away from injury risks, especially in the early rounds, because of how injuries have affected this team the last few years?
Is a right defensive end a priority?
I'll let somebody else ask about Johnny Manziel.
What do you guys want to hear from Jones, Stephen Jones, Will McClay and Jason Garrett?
