FORT WORTH -- In 2007 Rory Sabbatini came from eight shots back in the third round to win the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial.
He will not have to make quite as big a jump in 2011 thanks to his 64 in Friday’s second round. After an opening 69 on Thursday, Sabbatini did not take off until the ninth hole. He birdied Nos. 9-12 and 14 to briefly the lead with David Toms and Chez Reavie.
“I’ve played here once since last Colonial,” said Sabbatini, who lives in Fort Worth, “but I’ve played so many rounds on this golf course that I know it about as well as the back of my hand. It’s a course I feel very comfortable at and a course I love. It’s a good, classic golf course. You get rewarded for good shots and penalized for bad shots.”
