IRVING, Texas -- Whenever Fort Worth's Rory Sabbatini plays either at Colonial or in the HP Byron Nelson Championship, he receives plenty of support from the gallery.
Thursday was no exception. Besides Sabbatini's wife, Amy, a gaggle of fans cheered Sabbatini around TPC Four Seasons in the first round, helping him to a 1-under finish.
"It's great to have two events in Dallas-Fort Worth here and obviously two great events," Sabbatini said. "It's definitely fun out there and I have a bunch of support."
Sabbatini said he's been playing well of late, but said that the "last week the rounds have been strange." He was disappointed that he didn't build some more momentum on Thursday.
"I never really got anything good going out there, so I have some work to do," Sabbatini said. "If it's any consolation, my short game bailed me out a few times and helped me pick up a few shots."
Sabbatini tees off at 12:29 p.m. from No. 1.
