Tony Romo-Tiger Woods tandem fades at Pebble

Tony Romo is used to playing on Sundays. But he probably won't have that chance this weekend.

The Dallas Cowboys quarterback and Tiger Woods slipped into a tie for 50th at 10 under after a second-round 67 in the best-ball team portion of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am on Friday.

Playing on the par-70 Monterey Peninsula course, considered the easiest of the three courses being used this week, Woods and Romo got off to a fast start, with each making birdie on the opening hole. Romo followed that up with another birdie on No. 2, while Woods had to settle for par.

The two early birdies put the Romo-Woods pairing at -9 overall and tied for 19th for the moment, but that momentum wouldn't last.

Woods, who needed 33 putts in his second round, missed three putts inside of 10 feet and also had a couple of lip-outs in a round of 2-under 68 that left him tied for 17th, six strokes back of leader Charlie Wi heading into the weekend.

Woods and Romo will play Saturday’s third round at Pebble Beach and will tee off of No. 10 at 10:22 a.m.

But Romo’s chances of being around for Sunday are slim. Only the top 25 teams advance to the final round.

The pair opened the tournament with a 7-under 65 at Spyglass Hill on Thursday and were tied for 25th.
