FORT WORTH, Texas -- Sergio Garcia, the 2001 Colonial champ who's playing here now instead of in Europe to reach his mandatory 15 PGA Tour events, was making a bit of charge Friday afternoon until he went into the water on No. 9 -- twice.
The Spaniard finally tapped in with an 8 on the par-4 hole which registered as the most difficult hole in Thursday's first round.
Garcia went from 6-under for the tournament and making a move on leader Jason Dufner (11-under) to dropping four strokes to 2-under and tied for 17th.
He's not in jeopardy of missing the cut (projected at 2-over), and he's got the second 9 to get back into contention. He was 3-under on the back 9 in the first round.
