UIL adds instant replay for state hoops tourney

For the first time, instant replay will be utilized for game-ending plays that have an impact on the outcome at the UIL state basketball tournament.

The UIL has adopted rule 2-2-1 from the National Federation of High Schools Basketball rule book for the 2012 state tournament games.

The rule reads as follows:

Officials may use a replay monitor during state tournament contests to determine if a try for goal at the expiration of time in the fourth quarter or any overtime period (0:00 on the game clock) should be counted to determine the outcome of a game, and if so, determine if its is a two or a three-point goal.

The girls state tournament is Thursday-Saturday and the boys tournament is next week.
