Ennis boys bolt to top of 15-4A standings

Jordan Mason was held to a season-low 10 points, but Ennis still had enough to get by rival Waxahachie, 51-38, Tuesday night in a District 15-4A boys basketball game at Lions Gym.

Mason, a 6-foot-1 junior shooting guard averaging 20.9 points per game, struggled through a 3-of-13 shooting night.

Picking up the slack was junior point guard Lebradford Willis with 19 points and Jamar’s Goodwin, a 6-foot-5 senior forward, with 14 to keep the Lions perfect at 4-0 in District 15-4A.

Ennis, No. 11 in the Class 4A Texas Association Basketball Coaches state rankings, hosts Terrell at 7:30 p.m. on Friday followed by another home game against 15-4A contender Red Oak on Tuesday.

Mason was named the District 16-4A outstanding offensive player last year as a sophomore. He has scored at least 32 points in three games with a season-high 38 in Ennis’ signature win over Class 5A power DeSoto in December.
