Aledo RB Johnathan Gray chooses Longhorns

Aledo junior running back Johnathan Gray announced Friday that he has given his nonbinding verbal commitment to Texas.

The Aledo junior, considered to be the top high school running back in Texas, announced his decision that he will join the Longhorns in 2012 during a news conference Friday morning.

"When I visited Texas during the spring game, I felt like part of the family,"' Gray said. "Knowing the atmosphere and the facilities, it is where I wanted to go. There is a great group of players on and off the field that I want to be associated with."

TCU and Texas A&M were also reported to be high on the list for Gray, who turned 18 Friday.

Gray, the ESPN RISE Mr. Football USA national player of the year, rushed for 3,221 yards and established a Texas single-season record for rushing touchdowns with 59. He scored 368 points.

In Aledo's 69-34 rout of La Marque in the Class 4A Division II title game, Gray rushed for 323 yards and eight touchdowns.
