Skyline opponent travels to play nation's best

Dallas Skyline is scheduled to face Cocoa (Fla.) on Sept. 5 at Cowboys Stadium at the 2011 edition of the Kirk Herbstreit Classic.

ESPN Recruting's Corey Long wrote a feature on Cocoa's schedule, which includes trips to Ohio and Louisiana, along with the September trip to Texas. Cocoa, a 2A school in Florida, is a three-time state champion and is on a 38-game win streak.

Here is an excerpt from Long's story which can be found here.

Just three years ago, coach John Wilkinson, now in his sixth year at Cocoa, decided to take an aggressive approach to finding games that would raise the profile of his players and program. Now he's taking more calls then he's receiving -- something he takes as a compliment to how much his program has grown."We want as many challenges as we can get, and I think beating Abilene [Texas] last season put us on the map a little bit," Wilkinson said. "So several schools were interested in playing, and we found some good ones."
