Ennis' loss leads to changes in 4A boys rankings

After a stagnant week in the rankings because of games wiped out by the winter weather, the ESPNDallas.com area basketball polls were shaken up a bit, especially the 4A boys top 10.

Ennis' boys plummeted four spots to No. 7 in the 4A poll after a 69-65 loss to Waxahachie. Fort Worth Arlington Heights and Fort Worth Trimble Tech each slid up a spot to Nos. 3 and 4, respectively, and Everman jumped two spots to enter the top 5.

Frisco Wakeland's boys re-entered the 4A rankings at No. 8, while former No. 10 Frisco Centennial dropped out. The very top, however, was unchanged as No. 1 Dallas Kimball and No. 2 Dallas Lincoln held their ground.

Another boys team fell four spots, as South Grand Prairie dropped from sixth to No. 10 in the 5A poll. No. 7 Coppell and No. 8 Richland each jumped up two spots.

The girls' polls were also active. Plano East lost to Lewisville, 54-50, and fell four notches to No. 10 in the 5A rankings. As a result, Plano West, Southlake Carroll, Cedar Hill and Colleyville Heritage each moved up one spot to take over Nos. 6-9.

Fort Worth Trimble Tech's girls beat Fort Worth Western Hills to notch the 6-4A title and earn the No. 10 spot in the 4A poll. Western Hills, which had been No. 5, dropped out.
