Arlington Bowie sends six to FBS ranks

Six Arlington Bowie senior football players signed FBS scholarhips on Wednesday.

Each recruit is allowed to pick one teacher from the Bowie faculty to be with him when he signs. Members of the student body watch the signing ceremony and a question-and-answer session follows.

Bowie coach Kenny Perry said Tulsa might have landed the surprise of the class in Zik Asiegbu, who started the 2009 season as a defensive back, gained 20 pounds and became a linebacker.

Oklahoma State signed two Vols, defensive lineman Diamonte Wheeler and wide receiver Montra Nelson.

Another defensive lineman, Donovan Vestal, chose Nebraska.
