DALLAS -- The Dallas Mavericks keep managing to win close contests. They're 8-1 in games decided by five or fewer points this season.
The problem: A lot of those games shouldn't have gone down to the wire.
Coach Rick Carlisle is pleased that his team has performed well in clutch situations. He just wishes that the Mavs would "not always make hard work out of sex."
The G-rated translation: The Mavs must find a way to stay in a groove once they get going. They had a 35-18 lead over the New Orleans Hornets after the first quarter Tuesday night and had to scrap for a 94-90 win.
"Once again, we gave a team life," Jason Terry said. "We let them back in it."
And Carlisle continues to search for solutions for his team's trouble with stepping on their foes' throats.
"I'm going to take a hard look at the rotation," Carlisle said. "I'll leave it at that."
