DALLAS -- The Mavericks decided in the middle of last season that they didn't want Shawne Williams anywhere near their team.
For those wondering why, check out this story in the Memphis Commercial-Appeal about Williams being indicted on eight drug charges.
Williams, who had a checkered past when he arrived in Dallas, remained on the Mavs' payroll until last week despite being banned from team facilities. He was traded to New Jersey along with Kris Humprhies for Eduardo Najera last week.
The Nets cut Williams today. He also turned himself into authorities today.
Nobody in the Mavs organization will be surprised that Williams, who faces one to two years in prison on each charge, has landed in serious trouble.
"Shocking!" Mavs owner Mark Cuban said, trying to keep a straight face.
