Previewing the Mavs' All-Star party scene

Josh Howard hasn't performed like an All-Star, but he will party like one in Dallas this weekend.

Howard will host an event to benefit his foundation each night from Thursday to Sunday. His list of co-hosts includes ex-teammates Devin Harris and Greg Buckner, rap mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs and unemployed NFL receiver Terrell Owens.

I have yet to receive an inviation to any of Howard's shindigs. It sounds like these events will be quite an experience.

"Bad Boy’s in the Building, Dirty Money in the building, you know how I do, there’s no party like a Diddy party," Diddy said in a press release to promote the parties.

Jason Terry is going all-out on Friday night, recruiting Dirk Nowitzki, Mary J. Blige and Common to co-host. JET rented out the Jet Aviation Hangar at Love Field for his party, which will benefit multiple charities.

The press release for this party vows that the event will "re-define All-Star weekend ... in grandiose fashion."

Mary J. Blige is booked Thursday night, too. She'll perform at the official NBA All-Star opening night party, which will be held at the Majestic Theatre and benefits the Mavs Foundation.

Some of the Mavs have no interest in taking part in the All-Star party scene. Jason Kidd will catch a plane to Arizona after Tuesday night's game in Denver. Shawn Marion is taking off for a beach in Mexico. Erick Dampier was suprised to learn that he's being promoted as a guest at a party, saying his only plans for the weekend are to spend time in the Mavs' weight room to try to strengthen the knee that's been bothering him.
