Caron Butler will sit out tonight's showdown against the Los Angeles Lakers because of a negative reaction to medication taken on Tuesday. Can you believe that? Talk about letting the air out of the building.
Butler is at the AAC and hoped to play, but decided he couldn't go just about two hours before tipoff. The Mavs wouldn't go into any detail as to what the medication was or what it was for. Mavs owner Mark Cuban said it is not an "ongoing issue," and that he expects Butler to play Friday at Atlanta.
The Mavs wanted to use this game as a gauge to see where they stood against the defending champions. Dallas is 4-1 since the blockbuster trade that sent Josh Howard to Washington for Buter, Brendan Haywood and DeShawn Stevenson.
