Carlisle not concerned with playoff puzzle

LOS ANGLELES -- Rick Carlisle isn't wasting any brainpower on considering all the possible seedings with the West playoff picture.

He knows one thing for certain: The Mavs will be the second seed if they win out, and that's all he's worried about.

What about the first-round foe? Carlisle figures he won't find out until late Wednesday night.

"I don’t even think about it," Carlisle said. "It’ll end up being some surprise at the last second. That’s what it was last year. With two games to go, there’s still a lot to happen. My focus is on our team, our health and playing our game as best we can."

The Mavs have reeled off three consecutive wins, but Carlisle isn't ready to declare his team prepared for the playoffs yet.

ESPN.com's John Hollinger put together a guide for those who want to figure out the West playoff puzzle. It'll all be much clearer after the Oklahoma City-Portland game, which the Blazers will have to play without Brandon Roy, whose status for the playoffs is uncertain due to a torn meniscus in his knee.
