Rockets' Kevin Martin rolling early

DALLAS -- With Yao Ming and Aaron Brooks nursing sore ankles, the Rockets will probably need a big night from Kevin Martin to have a chance to upset the Mavs.

Houston and Martin are one-quarter of the way there.

The Rockets have a 26-25 lead after the first quarter thanks in large part to their smooth shooting guard's production. Martin, who was primarily defended by DeShawn Stevenson and Jason Terry, has 10 points. He made 3-of-6 shots from the floor, including both of his 3-point attempts.

The Mavs' scoring machine, who had an off night in Saturday's win over the Heat by his high standards, is also off to a good start. Dirk Nowitzki has eight points (4-6 FG).
