Griffin is, however, the Clippers’ leading scorer who made the trip to Dallas. Guard Eric Gordon, who ranks eighth in the NBA with 24.1 points per game, stayed in Los Angeles to have his sprained right wrist further evaluated.
The Clippers are officially listing Gordon as a gametime decision, but coach Vinny Del Negro acknowledged after shootaround that it’s unlikely the guard will fly to Dallas for Tuesday night’s game against the Mavericks.
“I don’t see it happening, but there’s a chance,” Del Negro said. “I want to talk to the doctor before I have a better feel.”
Del Negro is optimistic that Gordon won’t have an extended absence.
“I know he’s feeling a little bit better today, so that’s good,” Del Negro said. “It’s just going to take awhile. He’s got a sprained wrist with some swelling in there, but hopefully every day it will get a little bit better. He’s a tough kid. He came back the other night and played for us at the end. Hopefully, it won’t be long.”
